Binaural technology really began in 1893 following the discovery that the human brain produced certain distinct, sound impulses. These low frequency wavelengths are beyond the normal hearing range.
Science then soon discovered that certain frequencies were related to specific mind states. Eventually, this then led to the development of stereo audio equipment that could create sound that produced a stimulating effect upon the brain. This appeared to have a beneficial effect upon the listener, positively improving outlook and general health.
In its early stages, the binaural effect was used to relieve pain and improve relaxation in individuals suffering from stress and anxiety. As knowledge and further testing methods improved, it was generally agreed that the human brain is cognizant of five basic -but potent- sound frequencies ranging from high gamma to delta waves.
The delta state is that of a person in deep REM sleep. The type of frequencies experienced by an individual is largely determined by their ‘state’ at that moment in time. For example, a fully awake and alert person will exhibit the higher brain wavelengths and show an enhanced degree of mental concentration.
Many experts in this area have voiced the belief that binaural brainwave power has the potential to totally ‘reprogram the unconscious’ as well as invoke the usual euphoric and ambient states of mind. And to some experts, only the tip of the iceberg has as yet been discovered in binaural technology.
Evidence already suggests that binaural sounds, can improve learning ability, concentration, meditation, creativity, relaxation, sleep patterns and create a natural high state of exhilaration. Many are also of the view that binaural brainwave technology is still in its early stages of development and that greater benefits are yet to be discovered.
